water with low conductivity: precision measurement in the lab

pH Meter

Electrode
  • Aquatrode plus – combined LL pH glass electrode (6.0253.100) with fixed ground sleeve diaphragm and double-junction reference system. Its new type of membrane glass had especially been developed for pH measurement in weakly buffered samples with low or high conductivity.

Your advantages
  • The Aquatrode plus has a new developed fixed ground joint diaphragm. The electrolyte flow is well defined thus minimising the contamination of the sample with reference electrolyte. The construction of the glass membrane is so chosen that even in water with conductivities under 10µS guarantees you as fast a response as possible
  • The 780 pH meter has an automatic electrode check, which gives you information about the state and performance of your electrode at any time.
  • Automatic stirrer control through the 780 pH Meter Metrohm Serial Bus (MSB) interface.
  • The pH glass membrane of the Aquatrode plus is made of a newly developed special glass that is characterized by short response times and excellent long-term stability.
Practical hints
  • pH measurement is temperature dependent. Don't forget to enter the temperature value of your sample solution into the meter. If the temperature changes during the measurement it is recommended to use an Aquatrode Plus with integrated Pt 1000 temperature sensor (6.0257.000).
  • Samples with a pH value over 4 should be measured under a nitrogen atmosphere. The reason is the atmospheric CO2, which makes the reading unstable. Caution: Don't pass the gas through the sample due the pH drifts into alkaline ranges.
  • If the sample has a conductivity under 200 µS/cm a ground-joint diaphragm on your pH electrode is a necessity.
