  • Can I measure the pH of soil? How?

The pH value is important and provides information about soil composition. Knowledge of the pH allows decisions concerning fertilizers, bacterial activity, plant growth, etc.

Measuring the pH of soil is not a problem. Standard methods are easily followed, and accurate results obtained.

pH Meter Lab measurements
For successfully measuring pH of soil suspensions in the laboratory, all you need is a Metrohm 780 pH Meter with the Metrosensor combined flat membrane pH glass electrode. Since stirring is crucial with this kind of samples, we recommend the Metrohm 801 Magnetic Stirrer to complement your measuring system.

pH Meter Field measurements
Measuring pH of soil samples in the field requires a special electrode. Here you got it: the Metrosensor LL combined spearhead pH electrode. Use it with the portable Metrohm 826 pH mobile and you're ready to go!
